NFL Halftime Commercial
It all started with an email from Parkwood Entertainment — a request for a hat. Not just any hat, mind you, but one for Beyoncé. That alone is enough to make my heart skip a beat. No matter how many times I’m asked to make a hat for her I am always beyond excited. But this time, they wanted something truly over-the-top: a gigantic cowboy hat covered entirely in white faux fur. Think drama, think glamour, think holiday magic. No further details are given, of course, because when you're working with Beyoncé, everything is under lock and key. All I had to go on was the creative direction: Big. Fur. Cowboy. Hat. Challenge accepted.
I love custom projects, especially for Beyoncé. There’s something magical about knowing your work will be part of her world, even if just for a moment in one single shot. I dove headfirst into the process, sourcing the softest, fluffiest faux fur I could find, the kind that looks like it belongs in a snow queen’s wardrobe. The brim was the real star of the show — massive (as always), perfectly structured, and a true feat of engineering. Balancing scale and comfort is tricky, but I wanted the hat to feel like an extension of her persona: bold, elegant, and entirely iconic. Each layer of fur was hand-trimmed and placed, giving the hat that cloudlike texture that looks effortless but takes hours of precision and care.
When I finally finished, the hat was everything I’d imagined and more. It felt almost surreal boxing it up and sending it off to the Parkwood team. Then came the hardest part: waiting. With Beyoncé, you never know where or when your work will appear.
Fast forward to the holiday season. Netflix drops an ad for their Christmas halftime show, starring none other than Beyoncé herself. I grabbed my popcorn and pressed play, giddy with anticipation. There she was, draped in a fabulous white fur coat, exuding her signature regal energy. I thought, This has to be it... And then the camera panned up.
BOOM. There it was. My hat. My giant faux fur cowboy hat perched atop Queen Bey’s head, owning the moment like it was born to be there. My jaw dropped. Seeing her wear something I made, styled so perfectly with her fur coat and that holiday sparkle in her eyes, was an absolute dream come true.
Custom hats for Beyoncé are a unique kind of joy. You’re not just creating a piece of fashion; you’re contributing to an unforgettable moment in pop culture. With every stitch, every detail, you’re weaving yourself into the story of her larger-than-life career. And this particular hat? It’s a snowy, sassy testament to why I do what I do. I. Love. Hats.
So, here’s to more cowboy hats, more holiday magic, and more moments that make me think,Wait—did that really just happen?Because when Beyoncé calls, you answer. Every time.
