Super Bowl Pregame Performance
Few moments in pop culture are as iconic -or as electrifying - as a Lady Gaga performance. So imagine our excitement when we were asked to create a custom hat for Gaga herself to wear while playing the piano for her Super Bowl pregame performance. Yes, the Super Bowl. The biggest stage. The brightest spotlight. And perched beneath it all: a stunningly bold, custom white wide-brimmed hat by Sarah Sokol Millinery.
Styled by the visionary duo Peri Rosenzweig and Nick Royal, the look was classic Gaga: dramatic, elevated, and entirely unforgettable. The creative brief was clear - a sculptural, oversized white brim with a sleek, futuristic silhouette. It needed to command attention on a massive scale, yet remain elegant and fluid, especially as Gaga would be seated at the piano for much of her performance. The hat had to move with her, not overpower her.
We got to work in the studio, carefully choosing materials that would create structure while remaining feather-light for comfort. We used a luxe white felt over a meticulously blocked and shaped brim to achieve that just-right dramatic sweep. The crown is an asymmetrical fedora shape to add drama and a little something unexpected. Every inch of the hat was handcrafted and hand-finished - because when it comes to Gaga, every detail counts.
There’s a kind of magic that happens when you see a piece you’ve made come to life on someone like her. She sat at the piano, white keys glinting, wrapped in a radiant spotlight—and there was the hat. Regal, striking, and totally her. The hat became a frame for the performance, highlighting Gaga’s artistry without distracting from it.
