November 2022

Rachel Zegler

Vanity Fair

In November 2022, Rachel Zegler, the rising star from West Side Story and Snow White, graced the pages of Vanity Fair wearing the signature Sarah Sokol Millinery big brim velvet hat. This striking hat, styled by Rebecca Ramsey, added a sense of classic sophistication to the shoot, perfectly complementing Zegler’s poised yet powerful presence. Captured by photographer Nick Riley Bentham, the editorial highlights Zegler’s incredible journey in Hollywood, from her breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story to her upcoming performances in The Hunger Games prequel and the live-action Snow White.

Zegler’s fashion choices throughout the shoot, including pieces from Louis Vuitton and jewelry by Tiffany & Co., showcased her elegant, modern aesthetic. But it’s the Sarah Sokol Millinery hat that added a timeless edge, elevating the overall look. The hat's wide brim and luxurious black velvet provided a dramatic silhouette, enhancing the vintage glamor of Zegler's ensemble while keeping her grounded in the contemporary world of high fashion. It was a bold choice, perfectly in line with her evolving public persona, portraying her as both a Hollywood starlet and a grounded, relatable figure.

The article, written by Britt Hennemuth, delves into Zegler’s rapid ascent to stardom, from her teenage debut as Maria in West Side Story to her latest roles as Anthea in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Lucy Gray Baird in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Zegler discusses the challenges and controversies she’s faced, including navigating the intense cultural discussions surrounding her casting. Her candid reflections give readers a glimpse of her resilience and determination to break barriers in the entertainment industry.

One of the key moments in the article revolves around Zegler’s wardrobe mishap at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Zegler humorously recalls how Lady Gaga came to her rescue, fashioning a safety pin to fix her ripped Dior dress—a fitting anecdote that mirrors Zegler’s adaptability and charm in real life. Much like the hat by Sarah Sokol Millinery, this incident highlights Zegler’s ability to carry herself with grace under pressure, a trait that has endeared her to fans and critics alike.

As the article continues, Zegler reflects on her role in Disney’s Snow White, where she is excited to present a more progressive, empowered version of the beloved princess. Her enthusiasm for storytelling shines through, as she talks about her character in The Hunger Games prequel, Lucy Gray Baird, and her desire to someday make her Broadway debut. With her extensive acting repertoire and her natural star quality, Zegler embodies the modern Hollywood heroine.

The use of the Sarah Sokol Millinery hat in the editorial brings a certain gravitas to the shoot, underscoring Zegler’s sophistication and her ability to blend old-world glamor with modern sensibilities. Much like her evolving career, the hat symbolizes a balance between tradition and innovation. It grounds the boldness of the shoot while allowing Zegler to shine, not just as a fashion icon but as a formidable force in the entertainment industry.

This editorial in Vanity Fair not only captures Rachel Zegler’s rise to stardom but also cements Sarah Sokol Millinery as a go-to brand for modern icons looking to make a statement. The big brim velvet hat is more than just an accessory in this shoot—it’s a reflection of Zegler’s journey, a subtle yet powerful symbol of her growing influence.
